CRS –
Common
Reporting
Standard
Furthermore, since 2016, banks are
legally obligated to report the data of
their clients, who are resident in other
countries, to the Federal Central Tax
Office (Bundeszentralamt für Steuern/
BZSt). Following the multilateral CRS
agreement, within the EU and as well with
some third countries, the responsible
tax authorities exchange the following
details of the respective customers:
• name and address
• date and place of birth
• tax identification number
• tax residency
• account balance
• interests
• total gross earnings / proceeds
In order to prevent tax evasion, the
Finance Ministers of 51 OECD Countries
signed this agreement 2014. Today
the tax authorities of more than 100
countries exchange their data. A full
list is available on the BZSt or your local
authority website.
