Special
Regulations
Employment Protection applies
to all employees and
workers. For some groups,
however, the legislator has
established particular regulations,
adapted to their needs.
Those groups are:
• Apprentices/Trainees
• Judges
• Workers and employees in sheltered
workshops
• Soldiers
• Civil servants/Offi cials
• Mineworkers
• Seamen
• Homeworkers
• Women – Maternity protection
• Shop-Closing-Hours Act
For certain branches, the Shop-Closing-
Hours Act applies. This act was highly
controversial in the past and still is. It
has already been loosened in the last
years to make the opening hours more
business-friendly. The unions, who
protested against this, could not prevail
their demands to adhere with the former
regulations.
