Corona News

Companies are facing enourmous challenges, because of the pandemic. The Government has promised support and has already implented some.

We are also prepared to support you with advise and assistance.

Currently we receive several demands concerning Short-Time-Allowances. Due to that we have compiled some information for you.

  • Information - Short-Time-Allowances
    • You must apply for Short-Time-Allowance at the Federal Labour Office (Bundesagentur für Arbeit). Before that it is mandatory to register the work loss. The Federal Labour Office is the competent office for that, too. At www.arbeitagentur.de you can find a corresponding online form.

    • Due to the current Corona pandemic, the minimum requirements for Short-Time-Allowance have been reduced. The following requirements must be met:
      • The company employs at least one employee who is subject to compulsory insurance
      • There is an unavoidable work loss – i.e. the loss is not caused by circumstances which are customary in the sector or company (e.g. seasonal)
      • There is a considerable work loss – i.e. at least 10% of all employees are affected of a loss of at least 10% (Trainees, Apprentices, People receiving sickness benefits and marginal employed people are not included)

    • The amount of the Short-Time-Allowance is dependent on the nominal net remuneration and amounts to 60%. If there is at least one child living in the employee’s household, this rate increases on 67%.

    • The employer is continuously obliged to pay contributions for insurances/social security. They are calculated in two sections:
      • For the actual gross remuneration, both, employer and employee contribution are payable.
      • For the difference between the nominal/contractual remuneration and the actual remuneration the employer is solely obliged to bear the contributions.

    • Short-Time-Allowance is also available for employees on sick-leave if they would generally be entitled to receive their remuneration continuously.
